Before the re-supply, all I could think of was
The Re-Supply. Now that it’s been
and gone of course, my mind is onto the next thing!
The one disadvantage of getting all our new food
and kit is that the sledges are much heavier. Each sledge weighs about 110 kilos, which for me at present
is almost double my body weight.
We were all excited to feel the snow under our
feet again having been tent-bound, but the strain of pulling my sledge was so
great that Pen and Martin helped me out in the end, and took four bags of food
off my sledge and onto theirs.
Elizabeth I words kept rolling around in my head
“I know I have but the
body of a weak and feeble woman; but I have the heart of a king.”
I wish I was stronger, but I’m not. Thanks Pen and Martin for helping out!
The re-supply has definitely lifted our spirits
– and although the plane with our colleagues Ian and Charlie was only with us
for under an hour – I managed to make sure they know what I need for the next
re-supply in two weeks time.
(Top of the list, some down-booties for when I’m
in the tent. I’ve got plenty, but
I’m hoping for a pair with a water-proof lining – you might say it’s the
nearest I’ll get to slippers for a while!)
