I have this picture in my head and I just can’t shake it.  As I sledge-haul NNE today towards what will hopefully be a suitable landing strip for the next resupply, all I can think about is sitting in a café in Paris reading the papers in the morning sun, eating warm croissants.  The image I have is so vivid I can almost taste the butter and feel the crunch.  35 days of freeze-dried expedition meals leads to strange cravings, and once the thought enters my head, it’s very difficult to shift.

However, I am consoled by the fact that in a couple of days time there will be a bacon sandwich winging its way over to me along with the rest of our resupply kit…… oh no, now I’ve got bacon sandwiches on the brain for the rest of the day!
