Pedal Power

April 22, 2011

Catlin Ice Base scientists are using an adapted bicycle to help them gather data from the murky depths below the sea ice. The winch is used to deploy and retrieve scientific instruments, water sampling equipment and trawling nets at one of four ice sampling holes at the base.
